THE LIGHT OF TRUTH TO THE HIGHEST HILL
(Psalm 43:3)

God wants to shine the Light of His Truth upon this State and Nation again. My hope is that this message will encourage many to begin praying for the restoration of the Truth of God’s Word back into our public institutions. Where there is Truth, there is hope.

AWAKENING TO THE LIGHT OF TRUTH

It is a time of awakening to the Light of a new day. The Light of Truth from God’s Word will restore us to the place of prosperity God intended for us. God has told us, If My people, who are called by My name, humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. II Chronicles 7:14

The growing confusion and great social, moral, and political divisions in our land will only be resolved in the Light of Truth. Great awakenings in our history have always begun when a small number of God’s people were drawn by God’s Word to a deeper walk of obedient faith. Those who are now being drawn to this Light of Truth are standing on the shoulders of those who have been praying for this awakening for years.

Every awakening must begin at a time and place. The time is now. The place is here. God will restore the Light of Truth to our public institutions through our acts of obedience to His Word. Our role is to seek and obey God. The Light of Truth will spread from individual to individual, and from community to community, as the flow of a mighty river through the State and Nation. Some will run from the Light, but many will be drawn to it. When this Light shines, the darkness must leave.

LIGHT

It all begins with Light. Light was the starting point of creation, which began with the Creator’s Words, Let there be Light; and there was Light.” (Genesis 1:3) This Light was more than a natural light, it was a supernatural Light, created three days before the creation of the sun, moon, and stars. (Genesis 1:16) It was the Light of God’s Absolute Truth, delivered through His spoken Word!

Darkness is powerless in the presence of light. Darkness exists only in the absence of light. In darkness we are blind, but in the light we see. The Light of Truth has this same power over spiritual darkness. (John 1:5) God is a Spirit, (a spiritual Being) and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and truth.” (John 4:23-24) When the Light of Truth is shining upon us we are able to see and understand the spiritual things of God. Without this Light we are spiritually blind.

The Light of Truth is God’s Word. It has not changed since the time of creation. It continues to shine, but when it is blocked from our lives, we are left in the dark, without answers to life’s many questions. We become angry and try to fight the darkness, but we fail because the darkness is not the cause of our problems, it is simply the effect of the objects blocking the Light.

As God answers our request to return the Light of Truth to our public institutions, the discord and divisions will be resolved, because Light overcomes darkness. When this Light of Truth is carried to the highest courts in the land, it will shine down upon the clouds of fear and confusion that have formed over the hearts and minds of the people. Every person will again have access to the Truth, until the day when man’s system of justice is finally replaced by God’s perfect judgment. “There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever.” (Revelation 22:5)

TRUTH AND FREEDOM  

The freedoms we enjoy in this land are a gift from God, delivered through a constitutional form of government that was inspired by our founding fathers’ belief in God and in the Truth of His Word. But personal freedom cannot become our highest goal. Freedom is simply the means to the highest goal, which is to exercise that freedom by choosing to hear and obey God. We were created for this purpose. And to properly exercise our personal freedoms, we must first have knowledge of the Truth that leads to life. Without this knowledge of the Truth, we are only free to enter into deception and death.

In the pursuit of personal freedoms, we have lost the Foundational Truth upon which these freedoms are built. Today’s society values “absolute freedom” more than it values “Absolute Truth.” We are walking down a dangerous path where many believe Absolute Truth does not exist. Today, each person is encouraged to decide their own “truth”, and the act of responsive faith in the Absolute Truth of God’s Word is seen as either “intolerant” or “weak-minded.” But in the words of Jesus, You shall know the Truth and the Truth shall set you free. (John 8:32)

There are only two possible sources of truth . The first source is from the mind of man. The second is from the mind of God. The mind of man searches for Truth, but actually is not a source of Absolute Truth. Man can only offer an opinion as to what the truth is on a particular subject. Even the decisions of our Supreme Courts are correctly called “opinions” not “truths.” History proves that man’s opinions are constantly changing, and therefore cannot be a source of Absolute Truth.

God is the only source of Absolute Truth . Absolute Truth cannot exist without God, and the only way to know the Truth of God is through His Word. God’s Word is Foundational Truth. God’s Word never changes. “All of scripture is inspired by God, profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.” (II Timothy 3:16) God has placed His hand of protection upon His written Word, to keep us from corrupting it over the centuries. Every Word of God is pure, and we are instructed by God not to add to it. (Proverbs 30:5-6)

The authority of God’s Word is not a side issue, it is a foundational issue. How we respond to God’s Word will determine our eternal destiny as individuals, and will determine our future as a State and Nation. If we reject the authority of God’s Word, we will move away from Truth and away from God’s blessings. We do not worship the Bible, but we do come to know and worship the living God through His Word.

CHURCH AND STATE

 The First Amendment to the United States Constitution, states, “Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof: …” Religion is man’s attempt to seek and worship God. Through misinterpretation, the Constitution has been used as an instrument to remove God and His Word from our public lives. But man was created to worship, and when we removed religion based upon the true living God, we established a replacement religion, based upon the false god of “chance and materialism.”

Today’s concept of “separation of church and state” does not come from the Constitution, nor does it come from a historically accurate review of American history. This nation was built upon a Godly heritage. Until recent years, this historical truth was embraced by our nation’s leaders, including our highest courts. The United States Supreme Court, in Church of the Holy Trinity v. United States (1892), after thoroughly researching our nations history over the first 200 years, concluded, These, and many other matters which might be noticed, add a volume of unofficial declarations to the mass of organic utterances that this is a Christian Nation.

The United States Constitution was founded upon Biblical principles. The original “wall of separation” between church and state was meant to keep the State from interfering with the people’s free exercise of religion, not to keep the Truth of God’s Word from influencing the government and the people. Our founding fathers simply did not want the government to adopt a “state denomination.” The vast majority of our founding fathers held a clear Biblical worldview. They understood that this Nation’s freedoms were a gift from God, and that the people of God, who are the church, must continue to support and influence the state.

Consider the following quotes of our nation’s founding fathers on the issue of God and government:

  • While just government protects all in their religious rights, true religion affords to government its surest support .” (George Washington, Father of Our Country, and First President of the United States .)
  • Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers. It is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest, of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers.” (John Jay, America ’s first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.)
  • “We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion …. Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” (John Adams, signer of the Declaration of Independence and the Second President of the United States .)
  • “Far from being rivals or enemies, religion and law are twin sisters, friends, and mutual assistants. Indeed, these two sciences run into each other. The divine law, as discovered by reason and the moral sense, forms an essential part of both.” (James Wilson, Signer of the Constitution.)
  • “I have lived, Sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth, that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without his aid? We have been assured, Sir, in the Sacred Writings, that “except the Lord build the House, they labor in vain that build it.” I firmly believe this; and I also believe that without His concurring aid we shall succeed in this political building no better, than the Builders of Babel; … (Benjamin Franklin, Signer of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence.)

RETURN OF TRUTH TO GOVERNMENT

In 1857, our State’s founding fathers wrote the Preamble to Minnesota ’s Constitution, “We the people of the State of Minnesota , grateful to God for our civil and religious liberty, and desiring to perpetuate its blessings and secure the same to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution.” Over one hundred years later, in 1974, our Governor, a Supreme Court Justice, and a bipartisan committee of political leaders confirmed this Preamble when they revised the Constitution. Our government leaders must continue to acknowledge the sovereignty of God over the affairs of this State, as they address issues that will define our families, our public education system, and our religious freedoms for generations to come.

It is particularly vital that a worldview, based upon the Truth of God and His Word, is returned to our highest courts. Our highest courts have created a cloud over the people of this nation, as they continue to misinterpret the original intent of our founding fathers and our state and federal constitutions. The will of the people, as expressed through the laws passed by their elected representatives, is being denied. This is the result of the erroneous opinions of courts that do not understand that they are to act in submission to the law, and not to create the law.

An understanding of submission to authority must be restored to our highest courts. The Word of God speaks to the selection process of our judges in II Chronicles 19:5-7. He (Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah ) appointed judges in the land, in all the fortified cities of Judah . And he said to them, consider carefully what you do, for you are judging not for man, but for the Lord, and He will be with you when you render your verdicts. May the fear of the Lord be upon you, because in the Lord there is no injustice, no partiality, and no bribery .” If we want wise decisions from our highest courts, we must place God fearing men and women in the seats of justice. “The reverent fear of the Lord is the beginning of all wisdom.” (Psalm 111:10)

RETURN OF TRUTH TO EDUCATION

The Word of God was the foundation upon which our Nation’s public education system was built. The original purpose of public education was to insure that all Americans would be able to read the Bible and become morally responsible citizens. A famous, but unconfirmed, quote of President Abraham Lincoln has become a reality, The philosophy of the classroom in one generation, will become the philosophy of government in the next generation.” Today, the majority of our public leaders have been educated in a public education system that was void of the Truth of God’s Word.

George Washington warned us, in his farewell address, “… reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle. Without the Truth of God’s Word in education, our children are left without a basis for morality. Without the Truth of God’s Word in education, each generation will move us further from the place of prosperity and strength that God has bestowed upon us. Today’s confusion and great divisions are a direct consequence of removing the Truth of God from the education of our children.

Truth is not unconstitutional. It is not unconstitutional to bring the Word of God back into public education. By removing the Word of God from public education we have not removed religion, but we have instead replaced a religious belief in God with a religious belief in chance and matter. The result of removing the Truth of God’s Word from public education has been a great decline in morality, which has lead to the breakdown of our foundational institution, the family.

Freedom of choice requires options. If the Word of God is Truth, then all children must be given an opportunity to hear it. Our children were created to worship. They will either worship God or something else. A public education system based only upon a religious belief in chance and materialism denies children the right to choose the foundation of Truth upon which they will build their lives. Parents should have the right to a public education of their children, which is consistent with their Biblical worldview. We cannot continue to abandon public education in anger, fear, and confusion, but instead we must revive it with Truth.

CONCLUSION

To conclude that the Truth of God should have nothing to do with our public lives, and is not relevant to choosing our leaders, is in complete opposition to our history. It is not too late to correct the errors that have been made. The correction will come as we step back into the Light of Truth, and rediscover our Godly heritage. God will accomplish His redeeming purpose in this State and Nation, through the acts of obedient faith of His people. Each of us must choose to carry this Light of Truth to those within our sphere of influence.
